Harry Potter Theme Park Opening Date is Set (Sort of)
March 5, 2010
Universal Orlando Is Scheduled to Be Open on Memorial Day 2010
Great news today hit the Dragon alley, and the spreading rumor has it that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open sometime before Memorial Weekend of 2010.
Universal Studios Orlando has started offering vacation packages with tie-ins to its
Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction, that means that the Theme Park addition should be in operation by May 28.
Whats is included?
Some of the packages will include breakfast at the new Three Broomsticks restaurant within the Wizarding World, early park admission, Universal Express to byline select lines, a commemorative grand-opening ticket, tickets to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios theme parks and accommodations. They are good for travel from May 28th through December 31st, 2010. So, get yourselves ready for the opening as it is getting closer.
Plan Your Summer Vacation
Universal is basically helping you guys to start planing your summer vacations. The message we got from them is: “May 28 travel date was set to help consumers with vacation planning and does not represent the opening date for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. Universal has announced that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open in Spring 2010. Specific opening date information will come as soon as it is available.” No surprises here, the opening date is still being kept in the dark.
Conceivably, Wizarding World could open before May 28, or there could be a soft opening or preview days before these deals are in effect“There has been worldwide anticipation for this one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, and we are thrilled to be offering families a way to experience the magic and excitement of Harry Potter’s world,” Alice Norsworthy, Universal’s executive vice president of marketing and sales, said in a news release.
Package Cost in Galleons.
Package prices start at $285 per adult for four nights at a hotel near Universal. However, the most loaded offerings are for the resorts’ on-site hotels (Portofino Bay, Hard RockHotel and Royal Pacific) and start at $645 per adult. You probably want to be as close to the park as you can, to start your day as early as possible. It is a given fact that Universal Orlando will get busy this summer.
Harry Potter Theme Park Attractions
Wizarding World, included in regular admission to Islands of Adventure, features rides, eateries and magical retail stores based on the works of J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter series of books and movies. The iconic Hogwarts Castle will house a dark ride, still wrapped in mystery, called “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”. Hogsmeade Village will feature shops and stores, including Ollivanders wand store, where theme-park guests will be able to buy wands (or as Universal say, the wands will select the guests). Additionally the park will include two roller coasters the family oriented “Flight of the Hippogriff” and “The Dragon Challenge”.
And you’ll finally get a big swig of ice cold butterbeer.
Here is The Overview of the Offer:
- Early admission is one hour prior to regular Islands opening and valid for Forbidden Journey, the two coasters and … The Cat in the Hat. “If technical problems arise or the opening of an attraction is delayed, another Universal’s Islands of Adventure attraction will open for Early Park Admission,” the small type says.
- Some deals include a City Walk Party Pass good for 14 days.
- The privileges attaches to on-site hotel stay are good only for the number of guests staying in the room, of course.
