For the price of some of those wands, I understand up to $120.00, they better double as a vibrator for the ladies!

How much do the wands cost? Were they really expensive? Because I’m going there and I’m saving up money for this and I don’t know how much the wands are.

    Hi
I am a 13 year old boy – and I live in NZ. I want to go to Harry Potter world more than anything else – I have read the books 3 times all the way through and watched all the movies and own the DVDs. Is there any competitions around to win to get to go there?

I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and here’s some tragic news–Only 1 out of 10 people get to do the whole wand experience! I didn’t get chosen… but it is really cool to watch. You can still buy the wands, but only one gets to do the whole experience when the wand chooses you.

The family just got back from visiting the theme park of the wizarding world and was very disappointed. First of all, the organization for one at the Hogwart’s Castle was poor at best. No directions from staff regarding you have to wait 1 hour to put your bags in lockers in order to go on the ride. Then, to get back in line for a 6 hour wait to go on a 4 minute ride is ridiculous. The other rides are copy cats from the Dueling Dragons that was already a ride at Islands of Aventure. The Hippogrith ride was lame…like a kiddle ride, even the 10 year old had the same experience.
Waiting 2 hours to go into the shops was an outrage…expecially with all the people they pack in to each shop to create excitement? Additionally, Universal needs to think about how to keep the public cool while waiting in lines for hours…no fans or misters or even some sort of covering to help with the summer heat!

Overall the Harry Potter Theme Park was a disappointment and would not be something I recommend to others.

I waste lots of money going into this park. It was not worth the money, I was very disappointed with the Harry Potter Attraction. The only fun ride was the Harry Potter ride. The butter beer was ginger ale, which my kids hated. The Ollivander’s wand shop sucked, because of the hour long wait for nothing. The wands where 30 bucks and they didn’t even consist of real wood. If you are from London, I recommend that you don’t fly over for this Harry Potter Attraction at Island of Adventures in Orlando.

My family and I just visited the Harry Potter park. Luckily, we only had a three hour drive since we live in southern Florida. Overall, we were disappointed. The creators have done a nice job of creating the exterior facades of the shops and Hogwarts, however, there isn’t much substance. Most of the shops are just props with display windows. The wand interactive experience is very brief and only one from the group is chosen. The candy shop is fairly ordinary. The food and beverages are horribly overpriced. I think a flying car ride would have been more appropriate than a rollercoaster. Overall, it is nice to see if you are a fan but I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip.

attention people!!! i agree with mandi! what is with all the people dissing harry potter? if you really were a fan u shouldn’t be complaining about how hot it is or how something might have “sucked,” u should enjoy every frinkin second of the adventure! if u really cared then u should be able to go and enjoy the time and the amazing experience of just being able to walk down hogsmead. haven’t you ever imagined what it would be like to life in the shoes of harry, ron, or hermione? just picture yourself inserted in the movie as one of the main characters. this is the closest thing we have to that experience. sure u might not be chosen to be the one in your group who gets their own wand but suck it up. i’m not saying that i wouldn’t be envious but i know how to build a bridge and get over it. some people don’t even have the chance to experience the wonders of the wizarding world. and if your not a fan of harry potter and are a mere parent of a fan, just the smile on your child’s face should be enough. like mandi said, just say you didn’t like it and move on with you life.

Help Please. Going to Hogwarts / Universal Studios for the first time to see the Harry Potter Wizarding World Theme Park this Sunday (2/20) If we start at the opening time for the park is one day enough for two young adults to move around and enjoy everything? Also, did I see a “line pass” availability and is it worth it?
    Thank for your advice.

    to Bob & Alexas,
ive been to the part like 7 times in one holiday (this was BEFORE the WWOHP came out. and one day isnt enough even without the harry potter attraction. most rides in the parks are a long wait (e.g hulk was 2 hours). fast passes are absolutely BRILLIANT for skipping a 2 hour wait to a 10 minute wait. but we went multiple times because at night they do fireworks displays and theres 2 parks so you need to enjoy them both. at least go more than one day to enjoy it all.

as for me, im going AGAIN this year and i simply cannot wait for WWOHP. im a big fan and i dont care about waiting in lines for the shops – im getting in. ive also been on the dragon ride in there anyway, (previously duelling dragons) its a wicked ride but we might not wait ages if it takes long to get in since ive been on it twice already.

I wanted to go when WWOHP first opened but couldn’t make that work. I just returned from a visit there on Sep-08 and found it….underwhelming.

The GOOD thing about the day I went was the fact that the Summer holidays were over and 98% of the kids around the world were back in school. I did not have to wait more than 10 minutes for a single ride in the entire park, WWOHP included.

The 4-House Chorus singing “Double Double” was an interesting diversion. The biggest disappointment was the bulk of the castle being used for the 3D Harry Potter experience. I’m not a big fan of those types of rides but would have enjoyed more of a real tour of the castle and grounds. Seeing the common rooms, the great hall, greenhouse #3 would have brought more of the “world” home for me. I mean, really…not a single moving staircase or house ghost??

I was equally disappointed that Ollivanders was not a true wand shop but merely an “experience” where one out of 25 or more was chosen to be “selected” by a wand. You buy your wand in “The Owl Shop” next door. Think of everything wrong with that sentence! I wanted a wand but ultimately decided that a man of my years buying a mass-produced stick at $30 did not add up to much in the way of good sense.

King’s Cross Station was also given short shrift. Dr. Seuss had a train running through their grounds but no “Platform 9 3/4 Experience” to teleport one on to the platform where a real (if miniature) train might run you around a small tour of the “world.”

Maybe they only had so much room and budget to work with at the park but it seems, other than the facades, that the emphasis was on two thrill rides, a kiddie coaster and a trip through the tourist shops of Hogsmeade. I didn’t find a single reference to Diagon Alley or Flourish & Blotts, either.

I went, I’m glad I went, I’m in no hurry to go back.

Now that I’ve offered my thoughts on the WWOHP experience as it exists in 2011, here are some thoughts on what’s missing and how it could be added to the experience:

    1. Homes of Famous Wizards Tour: A walking experience through the Weasley Burrow, the Lovegood Home, #4 Privet Drive, Malfoy Manor, the Shrieking Shack, Order of the Phoenix Headquarters and Hagrid’s Hut. Hagrid’s current hut today is a prop next to the Hippogriff Coaster. It sits there doing nothing. Each home can have a resident sharing details on the place, like Molly Weasley sharing her home and funny family moments or Mrs. Dursley welcoming them in to her pristine middle-class abode.

    2. The Azkaban Challenge: To enter you must invoke one of the unforgivable curses and be taken in to custody by dementors who will escort you to the prison from which you will never escape

    3. The Knight Bus/Ministry of Magic: You and your closest friends have to get to the Ministry of Magic to help Harry fight the Death Eaters in a battle for the hidden prophecy. If you can survive the bus ride, you’ll discover that your wand actually works as you cast spells and charms to ward off the Dark Lords servents. Be careful, though, you might have to face He Who Must Not Be Named himself before it’s all over!

    4. The Chamber of Secrets: You thought there was only a Basilisk down there? See what else might want to eat you alive….if you can find your way in. Since the castle entrance was sealed you now have to find it’s other access point..in the Forbidden Forest. Here there be dragons, giants, spiders and unicorns who may not be your enemies but are not your friends either.

Maybe all of this won’t fit? Maybe they need a true wizarding world? How about near Barcelona? Better weather and a lot of Brits vacation in that area anyway!

Hi! I’m a BIG Harry Potter fan! Now me and my family are planning to go to Orlando next summer and I really want to go to the park. I was just wondering, do they sell broom sticks (nimbus 2000 or Firebolt) not real ones, hogwarts school robes, or copies of props from the movies ( tri-wizard cup, philosophers stone, or the goblet of fire)?

We live in Tampa so fortunately this was not a long trip for us. We were very disappointed by the whole experience. We took our granddaughter and her mother, and for $320, it was underwhelming to say the least. Extremely small spaces made it impossible to browse the few shops that are there. Most of the village is storefronts with no actual shops. There was an hour wait just to get a locker for belongings before getting on the simulator ride and then another hour to get on the ride. it feels like Universal rushed the building of this world to take advantage of the momentum created by the books. The rest of Islands of Adventure doesn’t justify the amount of money you have to spend to park, buy tickets, eat, etc. Very, very disappointing.
